Meet the CFW Trainers
CFW Fitness trainers are here to help you train smarter, move better, and stay consistent. Each trainer brings real hands-on experience, clear instruction, and a focus on safe, effective training.
Mike Wiechec
Mike started coaching gymnastics classes at a local gym at 15. He was a multi-sport athlete in High School and a Colligate cheerleader at Illinois State University. After college, the itch for competition and community never left and he joined CFW in 2015.
The Functional Fitness addiction soon took over and Mike was able to partake in competition and satisfy the physical and mental outlet he was missing.
In 2016 Mike became a CF-L1 trainer and joined the CFW Ownership. To follow Mike obtained a CF-L2 certificate and a Burger Strength weight lifting certificate. Mike believes that one of the most important investments we ever make is in our health.
Joel Avitia
Joel was raised in Wauconda and graduated from DePaul in 2015. He grew up playing soccer most of his life along with participating in extreme sports, such as, BMX and Dirtbike racing. When he walked into CFW he found the challenge and healthy competition he always loved growing up.
Since that time Joel became a CF-L2 trainer and is Certified as a USAW Level 1 weightlifting coach.
Joel loves the community aspect Functional Fitness provides and thrives on witnessing the progress of his athletes along with the friendships he has made along the way.
Josh Lewis
Josh has always been an athlete. Throughout high school in Wauconda, he played baseball, basketball, football, track, and cross-country. Even as a kid, Josh had a pretty healthy mindset, and knew that fitness was imperative to a healthy lifestyle.
Josh first began Functional Fitness in 2013 and knew instantly this was something he would enjoy. Realizing that Functional Fitness would help him with the competition aspect he’d been missing since high school athletics, he hit the ground running. He feels that Functional Fitness has made him the healthiest and fittest of his life. Josh received his CF-L1 Certification in 2019 after realizing that he really enjoyed helping out the other members in the box. He is grateful to be able to share his love of Functional Fitness with others and watching them succeed.
Meghan Stocker
Meghan has been an athlete for as long as she can remember. Her passion for running carried her into college, where she competed in Division I Track and Field at Eastern Illinois University. While at EIU, Meghan earned her Bachelor of Arts and was instrumental in leading the women’s team to their first-ever Ohio Valley Conference Championship.
After college, Meghan pursued a Master’s in Social Work at Aurora University and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She continued running and training for half-marathons until injuries and a busy schedule pushed her to seek something new—something that could feed her competitive spirit, offer expert programming, and fit into her life. That’s when she found Functional Fitness as a passion.
Meghan started in her Functional Fitness journey in February 2013 and was immediately hooked. Her passion for fitness deepened, and in November 2022, she earned her CF-L1 Certificate and began coaching.
Meghan coaches and trains not only to fuel her own wellness but to be a role model for her children and to help others fall in love with health and fitness. She brings a unique perspective to coaching with her background in mental health and experience coaching high school cross country and track. Meghan believes in the power of movement, mindset, and community—and she brings that passion to every class she leads.
